BREAKING NEWS: Mohawk to cut 68 jobs in Dalton

Mohawk Industries said today it will close its carpet finishing operations at the company’s Green Street facility, resulting in 68 job cuts.

“To remain competitive, production capacity must reflect consumer demand,” said Joey Faircloth, Mohawk’s vice president of residential manufacturing.

The announcement comes days after Mohawk released its 2007 financial results which saw net sales fall 4 percent in 2007, down $319.82 million compared to 2006 due to a slowing housing market.
