Dalton Mayor David Pennington and City Council members are encouraging citizens to weigh in on City Council agenda items prior to scheduled meetings.
“We have two readings on issues so residents have a chance to speak on the matter. I’m extremely accessible to anyone that needs me,” Pennington said.
Here are a few items the mayor and council anticipate action on in the near future.
• Receiving the deed on the Community Center.
• A Request for Proposal for landscape architectural services of Phase I improvements at the Community Center and Recreation Center.
• Legislation in Atlanta that deals with changing all aspects of the current dedicated recreation millage (property tax). The public will have an opportunity to vote on the issue.
• Efforts to combine and privatize roadway construction and maintenance, which the mayor and council are proposing to be a joint city of Dalton and Whitfield County endeavor.
• Consolidation of Dalton and Whitfield County building inspection and code enforcement.
