• The City View Church of God S.W.A.T. team will have an Easter service Sunday at 11 a.m. featuring singing, drama and sign language. A bake sale will follow.

• A spring fling benefit for Michelle King will be held April 18 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Eton School.
There will be live music, inflatable slides, games, food, a raffle and more. Tickets are 50 cents. Proceeds go toward medical bills. In the event of rain, the event will be held at Eton Elementary School.

• A nationwide town hall meeting with Dave Ramsey broadcasting live will be held April 23 at 8 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Dalton.

• The Carpet Capital Women’s Network (CCWN) will have its monthly luncheon meeting Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Western Sizzlin’ Steak House located on Legion Drive in Dalton.
Joyce Walker will be the guest speaker. Walker and her husband, the Rev. Bill Walker, reside in Cohutta and are members of Salem Baptist Church in Dalton.
Walker attended Florida College and took off-campus classes at Truett McConnell College. She has served with Bill as pastor’s wife since January, 1959. Walker has also served in teaching capacities from preschool to adult. She has been in leadership roles as preschool director, Woman’s Missionary Union director, Girls in Action director and others. She has served for 17 years as outreach director and taught numerous evangelism classes. Walker currently serves as outreach/care director and is team coordinator of Love Thy Neighbor Hospital Ministry for the Potter’s Clay Sunday school class.
CCWN is a marketplace ministry for women whose vision is to fill Christ’s mission by encouraging women with a sense of belonging to God and to each other, equipping women to develop spiritual maturity and become all they are to be in Christ and energizing women to bless others with the love, grace and truth of Jesus Christ.

• A community-wide Easter sunrise service will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Whitfield Memorial Gardens. A bluegrass band will play instrumental music and a message will be given by the Rev. Jim Suddath of Fellowship Bible Church.
The service is expected to last 30 minutes.

• Calvary Baptist Church in Crandall will present a Passion Play today at 7:30 p.m. in the church cemetery. Those attending are asked to bring a lawn chair and blanket.
The play depicts the life of Christ beginning on Palm Sunday through the Ascension.
If one of the nights is rained out, the play will be conducted the night it is not raining. If both are rained out, the play will be rescheduled for April 17-18 at 7:30.

• Ecumenical Earth Day 2009 will be April 28 from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Dalton.
The free event seeks to educate the public about our role as stewards of the earth and includes music, crafts, petting, zoo, hot dog lunch and more. This year Ecumenical Earth Day is going green with Tennessee Interfaith Power and Light, Earthcare, the Dalton Tree Board, Rosewood Garden Center and others. A focus on water conservation will also continue with exhibits by Dalton Utilities, the Coosa River Basin Initiative and the Dalton State College Environmental Club.
Music will feature Gordon and Cathy DeLashmitt, Darlene Arnold, The Hilltoppers, Jeremy Smith and Soulshine. The Community Caretaker Award will also be given.

• The Oasis Project, a spiritually-based organization within New Covenant Deliverance Tabernacle, will host “A Night of Praise and Worship” today at 7 p.m.

• First Presbyterian Church of Dalton will offer a grief recovery outreach program beginning April 20 from 6 to 8 p.m.
The 10-week program is for those who are experiencing the pain and anxiety of loss due to death, divorce or separation. It seeks to guide those whose lives have been affected by the death of a loved one or the end of a relationship — whether a recent loss or long ago. It is designed to help persons resolve their loss issues and move beyond grief to a richer quality of life.
Class size is limited and participants must preregister by April 17. There is a $35 fee which covers the cost of all workshop materials. Scholarships are available.

• North Georgia Baptist Temple will have its second annual motorcycle ride and youth fundraiser April 18 at 9 a.m. The ride will leave for Ellijay at 10 a.m.
Lunch will be provided for all registered riders at the church immediately following the ride. Preregistration fee is $25 for one rider and $35 for two riders. The cost is $30 for one rider and $40 for two riders the day of the event. All proceeds go toward the youth fund and bus ministry. The first 100 to preregister will receive a T-shirt.
