• Beulahland Baptist Church in Sugar Valley will have a benefit singing and dinner May 2 at 5 p.m. at the Sugar Valley Community Club. Featured singers will be Family Ties and others.

Plates will be available for $5 and include pinto beans, cornbread, macaroni and cheese, slaw, dessert and drink. There will also be a cakewalk.

The public is invited.



• New Hope Baptist Church will celebrate its pastor’s installation services Sunday.

The Rev. Jeffrey Jefferson will bring the message at the 10 a.m. service, and Dr. Virgil Caldwell will be the special guest speaker at 4 p.m.

The church is at 900 Roan St. in Dalton. The Rev. Kenneth F. Scaife, pastor, welcomes everyone.



• A nationwide town hall meeting with Dave Ramsey broadcasting live will be Thursday from 8 to 9 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church in Dalton. The Web cast is titled “Town Hall for Hope — The Economy, Your Money and Real Answers.”

• Evangelist Ronnie Dean Raven will be the special guest today and Sunday at A Place to Worship. Services begin at 7 p.m. today and 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday.

• An annual spring yard sale will be April 25 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Valley Brook Church of God. Tables may be rented for $10.

• The Rev. Charles McAfee, pastor of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Dalton, will be honored April 26 at the 28th PULH (Peace, Unity, Honesty and Leadership) annual achievement awards dinner at the Clarion Atlanta Airport Hotel in Atlanta.

The event notes outstanding leaders in Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina.

McAfee will be honored for his outstanding leadership in Tennessee. He has served on various boards including the Knoxville Legal Aid Society and the Knoxville Transportation Authority. McAfee is a member of the North Georgia General Baptist Association, the National Baptist Convention UAS Inc. and the Concerned Clergy of Greater Whitfield County. He and his wife, Charlene, have four children.



• New Covenant Deliverance Tabernacle will host a women’s conference, “The Threshing Floor, April 24-25 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:15.

Praise and worship will be provided by minister of music Brent Taylor and the I.O.A. Ministry Worship Team of Ontario, Canada. The keynote speakers are First Lady Julia Russell of Adairsville and First Lady Sabrina Benham. A concert by Taylor and the worship team will conclude the Friday festivities.

• The Rev. Willie Bennett, associate minister of Liberty Baptist Church, will bring the message April 26 at 11 a.m.

A talent show will be held at 3 p.m. The theme is “The Gift of Giving Your Time and Talent.” The event will feature solos, poetry readings and instrumentals. All proceeds go towards the van ministry.

• Swamp Creek Baptist Church will celebrate Pastor Appreciation Day Sunday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Bob Bagley of the North Georgia-Murray County Baptist Association as guest speaker.

• The L’Abri Symphony Orchestra will perform a hymn concert Sunday at 6 p.m. at Rocky Face Baptist Church.

• There will be a singing at Welcome Valley Baptist Church on Fullers Chapel Road in Chatsworth on Sunday a 6 p.m. featuring Pressing On.

• Tunnel Hill United Methodist Church has announced the following upcoming events:

Pearls of Great Worth — A event for “fantastic females” will be held May 16 from 9:30 a.m. to noon featuring a brunch meal, music, skit, inspirational speaker, spring fashion show and door prizes. Golf tournament — May 2 at 1 p.m. at Battlefield Golf Club in Fort Oglethorpe. The cost is $200 per team. Proceeds to go towards the mission trip. Registration deadline is April 24.

• Antioch Baptist Church has announced the following April events:

April 26-29 — Revival each night at 7 p.m. with the Rev. David Ray as guest speaker. There will be special singing nightly.

• Called, Hart to Hart and New Creations will be in concert today at 6:30 p.m. at Bible Way Church of Jesus Christ in Murray County.

Evangelist Evelyn Adams will bring the message.

• North Georgia Baptist Temple will have its second annual motorcycle ride and youth fundraiser today at 9 a.m. The ride will leave for Ellijay at 10 a.m.

Lunch will be provided for all registered riders at the church immediately following the ride. Preregistration fee is $25 for one rider and $35 for two riders. The cost is $30 for one rider and $40 for two riders the day of the event. All proceeds go toward the youth fund and bus ministry. The first 100 to preregister will receive a T-shirt.

• Open Air Ministry will have a “Tribute Ride ‘09” in honor of fallen bikers Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at Eton Park. There is no charge to ride.

This will be an escort ride. In the event of rain, the ride will be rescheduled for April 26 at 9:30.

• A spring fling benefit for Michelle King will be held today from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Old Eton School.

There will be live music, inflatable slides, games, food, a raffle and more. Tickets are 50 cents. Proceeds go toward medical bills. In the event of rain, the event will be held at Eton Elementary School.

• A nationwide town hall meeting with Dave Ramsey broadcasting live will be held Thursday at 8 p.m. at Salem Baptist Church in Dalton.

• Singing for the King and Midnight Call will be in concert today at 7:30 p.m. at Open Door Light House Church.

The church will be in revival April 22-25 at 7:30 p.m. Special guests include David Hicks of Cleveland, Christopher Hooper and Annette Hooper.

• The third annual Ride for the Youth will be held May 9 at 9 a.m. at Maple Grove Baptist Church in Resaca. The last bike will leave at 11 a.m. The event is sponsored by the youth group.

A yard sale will be held April 25 at 7:30 a.m.

• A missions revival will be held Sunday through Wednesday at Westview Baptist Church in Dalton. Sunday services begin at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. with remaining services beginning at 7 p.m.

The Sunday speaker will be the Rev. Billy Parson. The Rev. Danny Jenkins will bring the message Monday through Wednesday.

• The Primitive Quartet of Candler, N.C. will be in concert today at 7 p.m. at Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church in Dalton.
