Debit card thieves sought by DPD

Submitted by the Dalton Police Department

Three people who stole a debit card from an elderly Dalton woman and used it to run up more than $1,100 in purchases are being sought by the Dalton Police Department.

A woman got lost in Dalton on her way back to the interstate on June 25, according to a police report. She asked two white females and a black male for directions. They asked for a ride to Walnut Square Mall and the woman agreed.

The suspects gave the woman confusing directions to the mall. One of the suspects entered her purse and took her debit card. After returning home, the woman got a call from her bank about suspicious activity on her account. The card was used at locations across Dalton and Whitfield County, including Walmart, Gamestop, Catos, CVS Pharmacy, Kangaroo, Zaxby’s and an Exxon station. The fraudulent purchases totaled $1,113.82.

Three people were recorded by the surveillance system of the East Walnut Avenue Walmart using the card. Anyone with information on the identity of these individuals or any other information on these crimes is asked to call Detective John Helton at (706) 278-9085, extension 143.
