FOURTH of JULY: Citizens invited to help display flags

Organizers say there is no better way to celebrate the Fourth of July than to bring your family down to the Whitfield County Courthouse lawn and help post 720 flags at 7 a.m. on Friday and retrieve them at 5 p.m.

“The evening retrieving takes much longer and there are usually fewer folks to help, so please make an effort to be there at 5 p.m. on Friday,” said Jim Chamblee of United We Stand, the group that started the flag-posting efforts 18 years ago.
