Landscape painters will invade Northwest Georgia Sept. 6-7 during the annual Battle of Tunnel Hill re-enactment.
“Tunnel Hill Battle Paintout” is happening with the support of the Art Alliance of North Georgia and the Tunnel Hill Historical Foundation. Plein air artists are expected from Chattanooga, Tunnel Hill, Ringgold, Marietta and Callaway Gardens.
Plein air artists seek the quality of natural light and atmosphere outdoors. Their art work is in direct response to the beauty they find in nature. They use a variety of media, including oils, watercolors and pastels. The public will be able to watch individual artists work and move from painter to painter from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. throughout both days of the Civil War re-enactment.
During the event, there will be an exhibit of the day’s work at the Art Alliance tent. The public is invited to view the art and meet the artists.
The paintout is happening simultaneously in international locations, and Tunnel Hill is part of the sixth annual worldwide group event hosted by International Plein Air Painters.
If any other plein air painters are interested in participating, contact BJ Wright at (706) 270-1626 or beejw@charter.net.
