Trade Center Web site upgraded
Jamie Jones
By early next week, the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center should have a revamped Web site that better showcases the facility’s meeting rooms and banquet halls.
Trade center authority board members had a sneak peek at the Web site, www.daltontradecenter.com, during their monthly meeting on Wednesday. Several board members offered suggestions on how to improve the site before it goes live. Doug Phipps, the trade center’s interim executive director, said trade center employees will continue to tweak the site to make it as user friendly as possible.
The Web site has detailed descriptions of all rooms available, rental rates, color pictures of rooms set up for events such as wedding receptions and business meetings, and a calendar of upcoming events.
Board member Dan Rogers said the Web site will be “an evolving asset to us.”
In other news:
• The trade center has hired a new food and beverage manager, but Phipps declined to say who it is because the person had not told his current employer. The new manager, whose salary will be $42,000, is expected to start by Oct. 1.
“I think it’s going to be a very good blend for the food and beverage department,” Phipps said.
The trade center’s former food and beverage manager, Mike Culver, left several months ago.
• Dora Price resigned from her position on the board because she has moved out of the area. Board member Charlie Bethel, also a member of the Dalton City Council, said board members will seek a replacement “as soon as possible.”
The board’s next meeting is scheduled for Sept. 24 at 8:30 a.m. at the trade center. It is open to the public.
