Suspect in MCHS bomb threat, police say

Chatsworth Police have a suspect in last week’s bomb threat against Murray County High School, said Chief Terry Martin.

At least one person and possibly another could be charged with terroristic threats and acts later this week, Martin said. He declined to name the suspect or say if the person is a student at the school.

The threat was received by phone about 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, law enforcement officials said. The school was locked down while sheriff's office deputies and Chatsworth Police Department officers searched the school and nearby properties, including the recreation department across the street and the Ninth Grade Academy. Nothing was found and students returned to class around 3 p.m.

A person responsible for a bomb threat can be charged with terroristic threats and acts, a felony. If convicted, the person could be sentenced to up to five years in prison and ordered to pay up to a $1,000 fine.
