BREAKING NEWS (11:01 a.m.): DA names suspect in bombing

District Attorney Kermit McManus confirmed at 11 a.m. that a suspect in the bombing of the McCamy Law Firm on West Crawford Street is Lloyd Cantrell, address unknown.

Information from the scene was scant, but police maintained a heavy presence on the block and have shut down the U.S post office on nearby Thornton Avenue.

Agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are on the scene.

One source at the scene told a reporter that a suspect was still on the ground near the law office, apparently injured, but police were unable to approach him because of concerns that he might have another explosive device.

That story was unconfirmed at 11 a.m.

Officials have confirmed serious injuries.

Earlier reports that a suspect was in custody are not confirmed. A police department spokesman said a “person of interest” was being questioned, but had not been arrested.

Law enforcement officials are supposed to have a press conference at noon.

McManus told a reporter that he considered the incident “an assault on the judicial system,” stemming from a bitter lawsuit.

No other details were available.
