Former Lumpkin County commissioner to represent area on state transportation board

From staff reports

Steve Gooch, a former Lumpkin County commissioner, has been elected to the 9th Congressional District seat on the State Transportation Board. He will serve the unexpired term of Dalton attorney Steve Farrow, who stepped down earlier this year for personal reasons. Farrow is now a member of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation.

“He (Gooch) seems to have a good understanding of our transportation needs, and he pledged to do whatever he could for all the counties,” said Rep. Roger Williams, R-Dalton.

The post is elected by all of the members of the General Assembly from the 9th District.

“There were a lot of people there who knew him or knew of him,” Williams said. “In fact, Rep. Amos Amerson, who nominated him, Steve was his opponent in the legislative race last year.”

The term ends in 2013.
