Tea Party being held in Gilmer County

A 515 Corridor “Tea Party” will be Saturday, Nov. 14, at 11 a.m. in downtown Talking Rock. Political candidates are invited and 15 have accepted so far, organizers say.

They say the rally is being held so that elected officials and candidates can come and listen to the people.

The event is sponsored by the Tea Party of Gilmer County (teapartyofgilmercounty.com). Downtown Talking Rock is a half mile east of Highway 515 on Highway 136.

MAIN STREET AMERICA HAS A VOICE!

Who is ‘Main Street America’? Drive into any town in America and you will most likely find a ‘Main Street.’ Odds are it is the oldest street and the one that has seen the most changes since construction.

Average people live on ‘Main Street’ – people who work hard, pay taxes, and honor their debts. They either own a small business or are regular customers of one. They coach Little League, volunteer in civic organizations, and give help where help is needed - even when it involves a financial sacrifice. They celebrate new life and mourn with those who suffer the loss of a loved one. They take their place on a bleacher Friday nights to cheer their high school team to victory, then trade it for a church pew on Sunday morning to sing from time-worn hymnals. They even greet strangers with a smile or wave as any car goes by on a country road.

‘Main Street’ honors God and country, lifting hand to heart in gratitude when they pass a man or woman in uniform. No ‘Code Pink’ here and few, if any, hyphenated Americans.

They don’t necessarily talk “politics” but do talk about the issues that affect each one on a daily basis – the economy, constitutional rights, schools, taxes, war on terroism, drugs, immigration and even health care. They vote these issues but often wonder if their vote counts. They are rural America and feel that they live in the shadow of the big cities, unseen and unheard by political leaders – those they have elected into office.

On Saturday, Nov. 14, a rally “For the People” will be held in downtown Talking Rock. The 515 Corridor TEA Party is sponsored by the TEA Party of Gilmer County and is open to all. Elected officials and candidates alike from around the state have been invited to attend – NOT to speak but to listen. If you have something you would like to say, then come and speak your piece – you are just asked to be short, to the point and cordial. This is your opportunity to make YOUR voice heard, along with other patriots from all over North Georgia. Bring your family, friends, and lawn chairs – TEA party to begin at 11 a.m. – come to the PEOPLE’S RALLY!
