Restaurant report card — Whitfield County

Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Comments: Numerous bent cans were observed stored with the undamaged cans. Separate bent and undamaged cans. Do not use damaged cans.

America’s Best Value Inn & Suites, 175 Waterfront Way

Comments: No Certified Food Safety Manager on staff. One is required due to the handling of milk, which is considered potentially hazardous food. Hire or obtain a food safety certificate or use individual size cartons of milk or any other potentially hazardous foods and that way a certificate is not required.

Comments: Containers (closed) of shredded cheese were observed stacked on floor. Do not keep food on floor. It must be stored at least 6 inches above the floor to prevent contamination. Also, after shredding, move cheese into cooler immediately for proper cooling. Cloth observed sitting on counter. Keep wiping cloths in sanitizer bucket when not in use to allow disinfection of cloth. Corrected on site. Wet stacking observed. Allow all utensils to air dry before stacking.

Comments: A box of lettuce was observed sitting on the floor. Food must be stored at least 6 inches above floor to prevent contamination. Corrected on site. Spoons were observed with lip end facing up in a cup. Keep lip end down and handles up to avoid touching lip and contamination. Clean microwave and keep free from debris.
