Man charged with battering girlfriend

From Staff Reports

— A Chatsworth man is in jail on $10,000 bond after authorities charged him for allegedly beating up his girlfriend and driving under the influence.

Charles Allen Reed, 25, of 97 Murray One Place, was charged Sunday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with obstruction of an officer, aggravated battery, DUI and criminal damage to property in the second degree.

Chief Deputy Ray Sitton said there was some kind of argument between Reed and his girlfriend, but he didn’t know what it was about. Reed is accused of giving her two black eyes, a “large bruise on the left side of her forehead” and leaving “with his two children in the vehicle while he was intoxicated,” Sitton said.

Sitton said when officers pulled Reed over, he tried to run away and resisted being handcuffed.
