Class acts


— • Morgan Lusk of Dalton and Taylor Peterman of Tunnel Hill graduated cum laude from Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. Lusk received a bachelor’s in early childhood education and Peterman received a bachelor’s in biology.

• Elvira Moya Aguilar of Dalton was on the 2012 fall semester merit list at Brenau University in Gainesville. To be eligible, students must take at least 12 credit hours and have a 3.5 grade point average with no grade lower than a B.

• Joel Wilkinson of Dalton was on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Columbus State University. To be eligible, students must take at least 12 credit hours and have a 3.6 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Jillian Misner of Dalton was on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Denison University in Granville, Ohio. To be eligible, students must have a 3.7 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Hali Smith of Dalton was on the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tenn. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full time and have at least a 3.4 grade point average.

• Avery Hart of Rocky Face and Varnica Singh of Dalton were on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Mercer University. To be eligible, students must have a 3.5 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Laney Bishop, daughter of Terrell and Jill Bishop of Cohutta, was on the spring 2013 dean’s list at Murray State University. To be eligible, students must have a 3.5 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Josef Oliver of Rocky Face was on the fall 2012 merit list at Oxford College. To be eligible, students must have a 3.0 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Kasey N. Headrick of Dalton was recognized as a spring 2013 dean’s scholar at Piedmont University in Demorest. To be eligible, students must have a 4.0 grade point average in a single semester. David S. Bragg of Dalton was on the spring 2013 dean’s list. To be eligible, students must have a 3.5 or higher grade point average in a single semester.

• Garrett A. Brown, Caroline S. Harbin, Katherine E. Jewel and Audrey C. Puryear, all of Dalton, and Christina B. Robinson of Rocky Face were on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. To be eligible, students must have a 3.0 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Cristian Lopez of Dalton and Sarah Kilgore and William Stock of Chatsworth were on the fall 2012 honors list at Tennessee Wesleyan College in Athens, Tenn. To be eligible, students must take at least 12 credit hours and have a 3.7 out of a 4 grade point average.

• Rebecca Blevins of Cohutta was on the 2013 spring semester dean’s list at Union University in Jackson, Tenn. To be eligible, students must be enrolled full time and have at least a 3.5 grade point average.

• Herbie Smith of Rocky Face was on the 2012 fall semester highest honors dean’s list at the University of New Hampshire in Durham. To be eligible, students must earn a 3.85 or higher grade point average in a single semester.

• Kimberly Anne Baker of Cohutta, Brittany Leanne Chastain of Chatsworth, Austin Michael Fowler and Luke James Leviner of Dalton were on the 2012 fall semester dean’s list at Valdosta State University. To be eligible, students must earn a 3.5 or higher in a single semester.

• Several locals graduated from Valdosta State University at the end of the fall 2012 semester: From Dalton, Elizabeth Anita Cox received a master of arts in special education, Martha Whitener Thomason received an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction, and Renee Coleman Golden received an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction. From Chatsworth, Anita Michelle Scott received an education specialist degree in instructional technology and Kelley-Marie Sierra received an education specialist degree in curriculum and instruction. From Cohutta, Kimberly Anne Baker received a bachelor’s of business administration in international business and a bachelor’s of business administration in management.

• Michael McCarthy of Rocky Face was on the fall 2012 dean’s list at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C.
