From Staff Reports
Interstate 75 southbound in Whitfield County was shut down for “a while” Wednesday afternoon as emergency crews responded to one wreck after another, a 911 operator said.
The operator said there were five wrecks on the southbound side between about 1:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. Three people were taken to Hamilton Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two tractor-trailers were involved in one of the wrecks. While that crash didn’t cause any injuries, traffic was backed up from the Carbondale exit at mile marker 326 to the Walnut Avenue exit at mile marker 333 for well over an hour.
