Restaurant report card — Whitfield County

The Daily Citizen

— Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Comments: Soap dispenser not working at hand sink and no soap was provided. Dispenser was fixed on site. Soap and paper towels must be available at hand sinks at all times. Corrected on site. Pastries in dessert prep area and food trays in walk-in were observed stored and uncovered. Cover all food when stored to avoid contamination. Can opener was observed with buildup of food and some metal shavings. Wash, rinse and sanitize after use. Clean utensils in storage observed with handles and food contact surface all facing different directions, increasing chances of contamination. Store utensils with handles all one way and towards employee so that only handle is touched when reaching for utensil. This decreases the chance of contaminating food contact end. Repair gasket on hot hold unit in prep/cook area.

Comments: Plastic container covered with plastic wrap in walk-in cooler held rice that did not cool properly. Rice has been cooling for more than 24 hours. Place food in metal containers and do not cover while food is cooling, but do not place anything above it that may contaminate food. Rice was discarded. A pot of cooked onions and container of cooked rice were not date marked. Both were made yesterday. Date placed on pot, rice was discarded due to cooling improperly. Three wiping cloths were observed on food contact surfaces and were not is use. Place all cloths in sanitizer buckets while not in use.
