Restaurant report card — Whitfield County

Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Taqueria El Calentano, 1702 Murray Ave.

Comments: Microwaves have food buildup. Clean microwaves. Dumpster doors open. Keep doors closed. Repair damaged floor.

Comments: Seat/paint treated lumber under ice machine. Seal rough wood behind bar to make it smooth and easily cleanable. Install a vacuum breaker at hose bib at mop/floor sink. No food present during opening inspection.

Comments: Dark spots were observed on ice machine (internal). The piece with spots has cuts, creating an environment for trapped moisture and mold. Replace piece with one that has a smooth, easy to clean surface. For now, remove it and wash, rinse and sanitize to remove all spots.

Comments: An employee observed wearing a watch and the other without hair restraints. No hand/arm jewelry expect a solid ring band. Wet stacking observed. Allow air dry before stacking. Repair leaks in sinks in kitchen — three-compartment sink and prep sink.

  • Man charged for using fraudulent Social Security card

    A man is being held in the Whitfield County Jail on multiple charges for using a fraudulent Social Security card with someone else’s Social Security number to land a job at a rug manufacturer in Dalton and for providing false information to receive workers’ compensation benefits, according to the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation’s Enforcement Division.
