2 fired from Murray Clerk of Superior Court office

— Two employees of the Murray County Clerk of Superior Court’s office were fired recently for a violation of the oath of that office, county officials said.

Sole Commissioner Brittany Pittman referred questions to Donna Flood, clerk of court, saying Flood is in charge of hiring and firing within the clerk’s office.

Flood said two employees were let go for being in violation of the oath.

“Out of respect for the employees, their families and from the advice of the county attorney, that’s all I can say,” she said.

The oath that must be signed by employees in the clerk’s office says, “I do swear and affirm that I will truly and faithfully enter and record all the orders, decrees, judgments and other proceedings of the Superior Court of the county of Murray and all other matters and things which by law are brought to me to be recorded, and I will faithfully and impartially discharge and perform all of the duties required of me, to the best of my understanding, and that I will faithfully account for all monies handled by me as a fiduciary, so help me God.”
