Driver named in fatal wreck on I-75

The driver in Wednesday morning’s fatal wreck on I-75 has been named by the Georgia State Patrol.

The driver was Kenniqua Johnson, 26, of Chattanooga, who died in the one-vehicle crash on I-75 north near mile marker 338, about two miles north of the Rocky Face exit, just after 5 a.m. Wednesday, according to a spokesman for the state patrol. Johnson lost control of the vehicle when the left tire blew, causing the vehicle to go down an embankment and overturn.

Johnson and passenger Famica Hill, 32, of Chattanooga, were not wearing seat belts and were ejected. Hill was taken by LifeForce air ambulance to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga, according to the state patrol.

Back seat passenger LaKendra Taylor, 34, also of Chattanooga, was taken to Hamilton Medical Center to be treated for injuries.

There will be no charges filed, but alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck, the state patrol spokesman said. The wreck is still under investigation by the state patrol’s Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT).
