Dalton woman found dead in Calhoun

A 24-year-old Dalton woman was found dead inside a vehicle on Wednesday in Calhoun, Police Chief Garry Moss said. Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation is continuing.

Moss said in a press release that police were called to the VFW on West Line Street about a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot. Officers discovered Haley Stanley, who was non-responsive, sitting inside the vehicle.

“Foul play is not suspected in this matter, however we are in the early stages of the investigation and as a safeguard are processing the vehicle as a crime scene.” Lt. Tony Pyle said.

The body has been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Decatur for a “definitive cause of death,” the press release stated.
