Sunday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Entertainment at Prater’s Mill Country Fair features stage performers, as well as dulcimer players and rhythm bones players on the grounds.
“We welcome each and every one to join the friendly volunteers, 37 civic clubs, churches and schools at the annual Prater’s Mill Country Fair to enjoy the fun as well as educational exhibits,” said Teresa Cochran, a volunteer.
Begun by volunteers in 1971 to raise funds to restore the 1855 mill and surrounding buildings, the rural festival offers continuous entertainment, canoe rides on Coahulla Creek, pony rides for children, southern cooking, living history exhibits, handmade crafts and original art of 200 talented artists and artisans. Visitors can take self-guided tours including the water-powered grist mill, Shugart Cotton Gin, the country store and the Westbrook Barn complete with live animals and a petting zoo.
Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $7; children 12 and under are free. Visitors are urged to dress casually and wear comfortable shoes. Parking is free as well as shuttle rides to the Mill entrance.

Interstate travelers should take I-75 to the Tunnel Hill-Varnell exit (341); drive north 4.5 miles to the intersection with Highway 2 at Varnell; turn right and continue 2.6 miles to the mill, a total distance of seven miles from I-75.
