Gov. Nathan Deal will be in Dalton today for what state officials are calling a “Mohawk Celebration” to speak about “the significance of recent Mohawk expansions and renovations.”
Deal will be at the Mohawk Industrial Park facility on South Hamilton Street at 8:30 a.m., then travel to Mohawk facilities in Summerville and Rome. The events are not open to the public.
Mohawk Industries announced Wednesday an $85 million conversion of plants in Dalton and Rome that will add 420 jobs during the next two years in Dalton and maintain 230 jobs in Rome. Mohawk will convert two yarn-spinning plants to bulk continuous filament (BCF) twisting and heat setting plants, enabling both facilities to keep up with growing demands.
Groups expected to participate in the events are the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority, the Chattooga County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Dalton Chamber of Commerce, the Georgia Department of Community Affairs, the Georgia Department of Economic Development and the Greater Rome Chamber of Commerce.
