Senate candidate Handel in Dalton Monday

— U.S. Senate candidate Karen Handel is scheduled to appear at the Dalton Municipal Airport on Monday from 3 to 3:30 p.m. to meet with supporters.

Handel, a former Georgia secretary of state, is one of seven candidates seeking the Republican nomination for Senate in Georgia this year for the seat currently held by Republican Saxby Chambliss, who decided not to seek re-election. The others are U.S. Reps. Paul Broun, Phil Gingrey and Jack Kingston; businessman David Perdue of Macon; Marietta attorney Art Gardner; and Derrick Grayson of Stone Mountain.

Michelle Nunn, the daughter of former U.S. senator Sam Nunn from Georgia, Atlanta physician Branko Radulovacki, former state senator Steen Miles and ex-U.S. Army Ranger Todd Robinson of Columbus are seeking the Democratic nomination for Senate.

The primaries are Tuesday.
