Murder suspect denied bond

A Superior Court judge today denied bond to one of the three men charged with murder in the shooting death of a 20-year-old Dalton man on June 18 following what police say was a drug deal gone bad.

Tywon Jay Henderson, 17, was denied bond by Judge Jack Partain.

Marquis Dequan Tanner, 20, and Endy Becerra, 16, have also been charged with murder in the killing of Abel Carmona.

Partain agreed to continue Tanner’s bond hearing Aug. 5. Tanner said he has hired an attorney from Atlanta. No one was in the courtroom today to represent him, and District Attorney Bert Poston said he has not heard from anyone on Tanner’s behalf.

Becerra had a bond hearing before Judge Cindy Morris last week. His attorney, Christopher Taylor of Norcross, asked at the time that the bond hearing be postponed until Aug. 5 so he could get more information and discuss the case with the District Attorney’s Office. Morris granted the request.
