Pennington lashes out at Gov. Deal in national media

Dalton Mayor David Pennington has used the national media airwaves and newsprint to take Gov. Nathan Deal to task for Deal’s “failures” to prepare for and deal with this week’s snowstorm in Atlanta.

Pennington, who is running against Deal for the Republican nomination for governor, appeared Friday on the MSNBC program “Lean Forward” and was also quoted in a USA Today article on Wednesday. You can view the program at http://tinyurl.com/kaezfdz and read the story at http://tinyurl.com/kbyjqn8.

Deal and Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed have taken heat for what has been dubbed “Snowjam 2014,” where thousands of city residents, motorists and schoolchildren were stranded after a winter storm hit the city.

“Government’s primary role is to protect the people; Nathan Deal has failed miserably once again,” Pennington told USA Today.
