— A Dalton man accused of killing another man by running over him with his pickup truck is scheduled for a bond hearing on Friday, the same day as his alleged victim’s funeral.

Frank Scott Bozzie, 47, of 807 W. Crawford St., Dalton, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office with murder, aggravated assault, battery, first degree criminal damage to property and reckless driving following a series of incidents officials said involved an ex-girlfriend.

Officials say Bozzie rammed his truck into a vehicle the woman and her new boyfriend were riding in around 6 a.m. Monday at the McDonald’s on East Walnut Avenue, then went to a home a couple of miles away where they were staying with a friend at 504 Gay St. When the man who lived there, Horace Richard “Ricky” Morgan, 54, asked Bozzie to leave, Bozzie ran over him with his truck, killing him, officials said. Sheriff Scott Chitwood has said he believes Bozzie ran over Morgan on purpose.

Asked why investigators believe Bozzie committed the acts, Capt. Rick Swiney said officials are “not going to get into the specifics of it” and that the investigation is ongoing.

“Of course, we did some testing for alcohol and drugs, but we don’t have any results back,” he said.

Officials were still in the process of responding to an open records request from The Daily Citizen for audio copies of the 911 calls and a written report as of late Wednesday.

Bozzie was denied bond on first appearance and is scheduled to have a bond hearing before Judge Cindy Morris in Superior Court on Friday. Court begins at 9 a.m.

Peeples Funeral Home of Chatsworth is handling Morgan’s funeral arrangements. A service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday with the family receiving friends at 1 p.m.
