Freezing weather hits BB&T, forces closure

From Staff Reports

— The BB&T main office on West Waugh Street will be closed today as it tries to repair damage from burst water pipes and loss of heat.

“The heat went out (Monday), and while we were trying to fix it we had a couple of pipes burst and some minor flooding,” BB&T Area Executive Bill Davies said.

The lobby and drive-through will be closed today, but Davies said they plan to reopen Thursday. In the meantime, they are asking customers to use other Dalton area locations, such as the Westcott branch on South Thornton Avenue, the Eastside branch on East Walnut Avenue, the Cleveland Road branch on Glenwood Avenue near the Dalton Bypass or the Tunnel Hill branch.

Temperatures dipped down to single digits Monday night and early Tuesday morning, and didn’t break out of the low 20s Tuesday afternoon. But the National Weather Service projects significant warming today, with the high expected to reach 42.
