Authorities are still seeking a woman suspected of murdering a store clerk in Dalton late Sunday night, and they’ve expanded their search to Atlanta and Michigan.
Special Agent In-Charge Greg Ramey of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation said officials were “still hunting” as of shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday for Skyy Raven-Marie Mims, 21, whose last known residence is Detroit, Mich.
Warrants have been issued for her arrest in the death of Dahyabhai Kalidas Chaudmari, 37, originally from India, who was working at the Hi-Tech Fuel gas station at 3385 Airport Road.
Ramey said he couldn’t go into details, but investigators know she has ties to the Atlanta area, and they’ve notified law officers there to be on the lookout for her. They also know she has ties to Michigan.
“We don’t have any reason to believe that the individual is staying around here,” he said.
Mims has light black skin and a slim build. Authorities estimate she is between 5’5” and 5’7” and weighs between 120 and 140 pounds. A photo released as part of the investigation shows her with dyed blonde-orange hair.
Ramey said authorities are still investigating whether Mims and the store clerk knew one another, and, if so, what their connection was.
Capt. Rick Swiney of the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is continuing here. Anyone with information on Mims or the incident is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (706) 278-1233. The GBI office is open today until 5 p.m. and can be reached at (706) 624-1424.
