Boyd Property Preservation adds more than 100 jobs in Dalton

— Denise Adams says she felt “like a weight had been lifted off me” when Carol Boyd told her she’d make a good fit for Boyd’s property preservation company.

“I must have sent out hundreds of résumés to companies all across Whitfield County and Hamilton County and all the way down to Atlanta,” said Adams, who had been unemployed since 2008. She met Boyd at the state Labor Department’s Dalton Career Expo in December at the trade center.

Adams, who has a degree in marketing from Dalton State College, says she walked by Boyd initially. But when she passed by her booth again, she stopped to talk.

“I just had a good feeling about her, and when she encouraged me to submit my résumé and  gave me an interview, I was so happy,” she said.

Boyd Property Preservation maintains bank-owned properties across the Southeast and has been in business since 2009. It recently expanded its operations and is now headquartered in Dalton.

Boyd said she spoke to more than 250 people at the career expo and has hired 104 since then.

“Those were positions in accounting, customer service and information technology,” she said. “As we expand, we hope to hire more people.”

Boyd has added more than 300 people total across the state.

“Boyd Property Preservation’s decision to expand its operations is terrific news for North Georgia’s workforce and for the state,” said Chris Cummiskey, commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, in a press release. “Most of the job creation in the state comes from our existing industry, so we and our partners, like those in Dalton-Whitfield County, work hard to make sure these companies know we appreciate them and that they can accomplish their business goals right here in Georgia.”

The Dalton-Whitfield County Joint Development Authority partnered with the Department of Economic Development and the state Department of Labor on the project.

“I would like to express my thanks to the Joint Development Authority for their assistance,” said Boyd. “I especially want to thank Andrew Carnes, who worked diligently to guide us through this process and was there to assist us whenever needed.”
