Dalton mayor David Pennington to resign Monday

To run for governor of Georgia

— David Pennington’s time as mayor of Dalton is coming to an end Monday.

Pennington will resign from the position following the City Council meeting, which begins at 5 p.m. at City Hall. He is leaving the post to run for governor of Georgia.

A reception honoring Pennington will be held in the atrium of City Hall following the meeting until 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

Pennington is currently serving his second term as mayor of Dalton.
