The Erwin Mitchell Community Health Fair is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Mack Gaston Community Center in Dalton (213 N. Fredrick St.). Admission is free, and the doors will open at 10 a.m. with the health fair concluding at 2 p.m.
Last year was the first time the Northwest Georgia Healthcare Partnership organized the community health fair. Attendance neared 2,400 and the Healthcare Partnership hopes this year’s event will garner similar numbers. The North Georgia Regional Cancer Coalition is the health fair’s “platinum partner” again this year with Five Star Food Service and Physician Health Services as “gold partners.”
Several health fair exhibitors will offer a variety of free health-related screenings during the event including “silver partners” Hamilton Medical Center and St. Joseph Clinic. Alliant Health Plans and Amerigroup Community Care are also supporting the health fair as “silver partners.” The Healthcare Partnership welcomes Advanced Foot Care Centers, BB&T Bank and First National Community Bank as new “bronze partners” for the health fair.
Nothing will be sold at the health fair. Free information on adult/senior health and planning, blood disorders, cancers, dental health, diabetes, domestic violence assistance, foot health, healthy refreshments, hearing and speech, home health, housing and home buyer education, nutrition and fitness, physical therapy and tobacco cessation will be available that day. Health-related workshops and fitness demonstrations will be available during the health fair as well.
