Public input sought on transportation needs

Submitted by the Greater Dalton Metropolitan Planning Organization

— The Greater Dalton Metropolitan Planning Organization holds the first in a series of public involvement meetings Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Whitfield County Courthouse from 5 to 7 p.m. to gather citizen and stakeholder recommendations on future transportation needs for the area.

A Spanish translator will be present.

The public is encouraged to attend and provide ideas and suggestions in the development of the long range transportation plan (LRTP), which is a 40-year out vision for the community’s transportation needs including roads, bridges, rail, airport, public transit, bike and pedestrian paths and facilities, traffic signals, freight and other transportation categories. As well as safety, marginalized population challenges and traffic flow issues, input is sought on transportation initiatives that will encourage regional competitiveness and sustainable transportation systems in both the short and long term.

This is a public information-style meeting.

If you cannot attend this meeting, please contact the Greater Dalton Metropolitan Planning Organization with comments or suggestions to and mark the subject line “LRTP.”
