Restaurant Report Card

Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants every three months. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

As of Dec. 1, the state changed the way food service establishments are regulated, adding a letter grade to the evaluation and making other changes. The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations.

Comments: Need accurate thermometer in every cooler. Seal drink cabinet to floor. Seal around walk-in cooler. Seal all cracks and crevices. Plumbing should run inside of walls and ceilings. OK to open.

Comments: Replace damaged gaskets; clean all. Keep Dumpster door closed at all times. Repair walls where needed. Repair threshold to walk-in cooler and freezer.

Comments: Properly date mark items taken out of original package (include sliced items). Store wiping cloths properly when not in use; do not use to catch liquid from tea dispenser or soda machine. Repair leak at three-compartment sink faucet. Clean blade of can opener. Clean dust from ceiling and ventilation. Seal gaps at rear door; must be self-closing and flush with frame.

    A man is being held in the Whitfield County Jail on multiple charges for using a fraudulent Social Security card with someone else’s Social Security number to land a job at a rug manufacturer in Dalton and for providing false information to receive workers’ compensation benefits, according to the Georgia State Board of Workers’ Compensation’s Enforcement Division.
