Officials: Suspected meth lab explosion destroys evidence

Rachel Brown

— Two people are in the Murray County jail after authorities responded to what they suspect was a meth lab explosion that apparently burned up the evidence they needed to prove the meth lab’s existence.

Alex Miller, 39, and Heather Towry, 26, both of 1178 Ga. Highway 225 S., Lot 86, Chatsworth, were charged Thursday with criminal trespass.

According to a statement from the Murray County Sheriff’s Office, deputies went to the residence after a witness reported seeing a bottle of something explode while Miller was shaking it in some nearby woods. Because the components of the suspected “shake and bake” lab were burned up, no meth manufacturing charges were pressed, officials said.
