Expect night ramp closures on I-75 South at exit 336 in Whitfield County

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is advising motorists on I-75 in Whitfield County of night lane and ramp closures, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The outside southbound lane and the exit ramp of I-75 at Rocky Face will be closed from 9 p.m. until 6:30 a.m. each night to allow for setting the beams of the new southbound bridge. A detour for the closed southbound ramp at exit 336 will be in place to redirect traffic to exit 333, State Route 52, to I-75 North, to the northbound ramp at exit 336 and onto U.S. 41.

This bridge work is part of a GDOT project to reconstruct the interchange of I-75 and U.S. 41, also known as the Rocky Face Interchange, in Whitfield County. The project includes the construction of a total of four bridges and installation of a video detection system. Work on this project began in late September 2013. The entire project is expected to be completed by the end of June 2016, at a construction cost of nearly $34 million.

GDOT urges travelers to call 511 for updated information about this or any other construction project on interstates and state routes. More information is available at www.511ga.org.
