Police arrest Dalton man accused of handcuffing himself to co-worker in Ringgold

ADAM COOK, Catoosa County News

— A man wanted since Monday evening for allegedly handcuffing himself to a co-worker at Taco Bell in Ringgold was arrested Wednesday afternoon.

According to the Ringgold Police Department:

Officers responded to the Taco Bell at 5422 Ga. 151 at about 9:05 p.m. on Aug. 8 in reference to the incident, in which an off-duty employee handcuffed himself to an 18-year-old female employee who was attempting to leave work.

Jason Earl Dean, 24, of Roadrunner Place, Dalton, was arrested by Dalton State College police and transported to the Catoosa County jail without incident.

Dean is being charged with false imprisonment.

The alleged victim told police Dean had been trying to “go out” with her for about a month. When she walked out to her car at the end of her shift on Aug. 8 he pulled up next to her and handcuffed himself to her as she attempted to get into her vehicle.

The alleged victim said Dean let her go after several co-workers approached them after hearing her scream. Dean fled the scene in a green Nissan Exterior SUV before Ringgold police arrived.

Several co-workers and management witnessed the two handcuffed to one another against the alleged victim’s will.
