Keep an eye out for ice today, not only on roadways but on sidewalks.
Whitfield County Emergency Management Agency Director Claude Craig said Tuesday afternoon that weather forecasters were calling for rain to turn to sleet and snow overnight and for temperatures to dip below freezing.
“We aren’t expecting a lot of accumulation. But it’s going to be overcast (Wednesday) morning and the wind probably isn’t going to be enough to make all that moisture evaporate,” Craig said. “So there are probably going to be plenty of icy spots into the day.”
The rain and sleet are expected to continue through this afternoon. But Craig said the forecast for Thanksgiving Day looks better, with sunny skies and highs near 40.
