Restaurant report card — Whitfield County


— Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Comments: Multiple bent cans were observed in storage with undamaged cans. Remove all bent/undamaged cans and place in separate area with a sign that states cans may not be used. Most cans may be returned to manufacturer for credit. Bent cans may allow air to enter cans and harbor toxic-forming bacteria. Test strips were not available during inspection. Test strips must be available to test the amount of sanitizer in the solution. If using chlorine: 100 ppm for sanitizer buckets (cloths), 50 ppm for sanitizing dishes. QAC (quat ammon) 200 ppm for sanitizing buckets, 100 ppm for dishes.

Comments: A large zip lock bag containing smaller bags of cooked chicken was observed in compact freezer compartment of cooler. Some chicken, all in individual bags, did not cool properly. The chicken was made yesterday. The individual bags not meeting temperature were discarded. The others were in contact with ice and thus cooled properly. Do not tightly pack food to allow air flow and faster cooling. Discard food that does not meet both time and temperature requirements. A container of meat, beans and bag of cooked chicken were not date marked. They were all made yesterday. All ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food must be date marked with day one being open or cook date, and store for a maximum of seven days.
