Restaurant report card — Whitfield County


— Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Comments: A large bar of American cheese was observed in the walk-in cooler with an open date of January 2013. Cheese was discarded. Ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food must be discarded after the seventh day with day one being the day on which the original containers were opened or food prepared. Corrected on site.

Dalton Depot, 110 Depot St.

Comments: Employee was observed wiping surfaces with cloth but all buckets had low sanitizer levels. Sanitizer buckets must maintain 100 ppm for chlorine. Clean water and sanitizer replaced low sanitizer water. Corrected on site. Buckets of sweet potato were observed on the floor of the walk-in cooler. All food must be at least six inches above the floor. A paper that covers delivered goods was found stuck to the fan. The owner and kitchen manager suspect it happened earlier in the day. They also had a delivery before the inspection, adding heat to the unit. All ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous food was moved to the freezer to bring temperature into compliance and while cooler reaches appropriate temperature. Handle was observed in agricultural product. Keep all handles out of food to avoid contamination. A single-service cup was being used as a scoop. Item was removed. Scoop must have handles. Corrected on site.
