Indoor marijuana operation found

One arrested

The Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received information that “high quality” marijuana was being distributed from a residence on Sutton Lane in Rocky Face.

Officers were able to make undercover purchases from the residence. On Wednesday, a search warrant of the premises was executed. Discovered during the search was an elaborate indoor hydroponic marijuana growing operation, as well as 29 ounces of marijuana that had already been harvested and was ready to sell. The operation was in a large 3-bay detached garage. Twenty-six marijuana plants in various stages of growth were discovered in the garage. A pound of marijuana is expected to be produced from each plant during a season.

This high grade marijuana was selling for $250 per ounce. Charles Lesley Sutton, 34, of 100 Sutton Lane, was arrested and charged with sale of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of marijuana, trafficking by manufacturing marijuana, possession of tools for the commission of a crime and use of a communication device to commit a felony.
