Dalton police seek credit card fraud suspect

The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying a suspect who used credit card information belonging to a victim in Newport, Wash., to buy Newport cigarettes at six Dalton stores in November.

The suspect was recorded on the surveillance system in two of the stores.

The fraudulent purchases all took place Nov 16. The victim’s credit card number was used twice at the Family Dollar store at 1261 Cleveland Highway, twice at the Kangaroo service station at 1010 E. Walnut Ave., once at the Kangaroo at 3808 Chatsworth Highway and once at the Marathon at 3000 E. Walnut Ave. In all, the fraudulent purchases of cigarettes totaled more than $240.

The Dalton Police Department was contacted on Wednesday by an investigator with the Pend Oreille, Wash., County Sheriff’s Office and began an investigation. After obtaining surveillance pictures of the purchases from two of the stores, Dalton investigators found that the same woman used the stolen card information at both locations. She is a black female wearing a dark patterned shirt with a black jacket or sweater.

Anyone with information on these incidents or the identity of this suspect is asked to please contact Officer Grant Mantooth at (706) 278-9085, ext. 166.
