Restaurant report card — Whitfield County

Whitfield County Environmental Health conducts inspections of restaurants. The inspectors may require a re-inspection. Restaurants are required by law to post their most recent inspection permit.

The Daily Citizen lists areas where the establishments are out of compliance with the regulations. Recent restaurant scores for all six counties within the North Georgia Health District are available at www.nghd.org.

Teriyaki Bistro, 2113 E. Walnut Ave.

Comments: Paint wood panel. OK to open. Issue permit.

Little Caesar’s Pizza, 1501 E. Walnut Ave.

Comments: Observed soiled equipment on both drain boards and on each compartment of three-compartment sink. Designate drain board for soiled items. Use a dish container for extra soiled items. Do not put soiled items in sanitizing sink or on air drying drain board. Flies.

Comments: Observed employee drinks in reusable glass without lid, bottle and thermos. Drinks must be in single-service cup with lid and a straw. Discarded. Corrected on site.

Comments: Hand soap was replaced by hand sanitizer in the hand sink in kitchen. Sanitizer was them removed and soap was supplied. Hand soap must always be provided at hand sink. Sanitizer must not be used in place of soap, but it may be used after proper hand washing. Corrected on site. Fan blowing towards prep table was observed to contain dust buildup. Non-food contact surfaces must be free of accumulation.

Zaxby’s of Dalton, 2710 Airport Road

Comments: Some single-service items stored with food contact side up. Invert all single-service items. Replace torn gaskets. Discard broken/cracked containers. Cup being used as scoop. Use scoops with handles. Spray arm at three-compartment sink falls below flood rim. Keep minimum of 1 inch above flood rim.
