Weather permitting, Murray County will still celebrate Independence Day today.
“We still plan on going ahead with all of our activities unless it rains us out,” Murray County Recreation Department Director Anthony Pittman said Friday afternoon.
The National Weather Service predicts showers and possibly thunderstorms for today.
The celebration will take place at the old recreation complex at 745 Chestnut St. in Chatsworth, across from Murray County High School. There will be homemade ice cream, funnel cakes, lemonade and other foods for sale, as well as games for children, a 30-foot water slide, a mechanical bull and a live band.
The festivities are scheduled to kick off around 3 p.m. and the fireworks expected to start around 9:45 p.m.
