State patrol investigating fatal Murray wreck

From Staff Reports

— Investigators with the Georgia State Patrol are working to determine what caused a 22-year-old driver to veer off Ga. Highway 225 South in Murray County on Sunday around 9:40 a.m.

Michael James Dudley of Chatsworth died after the 1997 Nissan Maxima he was driving near Coffey Church Road left the road and rolled over in a ditch. Dudley was ejected, according to the coroner’s office.

A passenger, Joshua Lee McAtee, 22, of Crandall, was taken to Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton with non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators drew blood from Dudley to determine whether alcohol was a contributing factor and are awaiting results.
