Authorities charge another in Deer Park Drive home invasion

Another person involved in an armed robbery in Chatsworth on March 7 in which the intruders wore masks and held people at gunpoint has been arrested, officials said.

Kelly Annette Higgins, 39, of 390 Shawn Lane, Eton, was charged Monday by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with second degree forgery; possession of a drug-related object; purchase, possession or control of a controlled substance; manufacture, sale of, dispensing or distributing a controlled substance; two counts of aggravated assault; and one count of burglary. She was released the same day on a $7,000 property bond.

Maj. Greg Fowler said Higgins turned herself in Monday after learning she was wanted. He said investigators are still seeking another suspect, a black male in his 40s named Morlin Moore who goes by “Red.” Additional description information wasn’t immediately available. Fowler said anyone with information on his location is asked to call the sheriff’s office at (706) 695-4592, or call the anonymous tip line at (706) 422-4066.

Higgins’ arrest marks the latest in a string of individuals charged over the past few weeks as authorities locate suspects.

According to an incident report, deputies were sent to 194 Deer Park Drive, which is off of Norton Bridge Road, shortly before 4:30 a.m. on March 7 on a report of three people inside the home being held at gunpoint by two people in masks. One of the people was able to escape and call 911 from a neighbor’s home.

About a week later, authorities charged Marlena Diane Harkless, 37, of 867 Cotton Circle, Chatsworth, with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, kidnapping, burglary in the first degree and theft by taking a motor vehicle.

About two weeks after the incident, officials arrested two men. David Nathaniel Drain, 25, of 3935 Ga. Highway 225 S., Chatsworth, and Corey Lane Griffin, 44, of 3720 N. Woodland, Dalton, were charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, kidnapping and first degree burglary.
