From Staff Reports
Linda Lunsford Day will be Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at the old recreation department in Murray County. Sole Commissioner Brittany Pittman will officially declare the day “Linda Lunsford Day” in honor of the longtime educator who is recovering from a kidney transplant.
U.S. Rep. Tom Graves also recently recognized Lunsford and Oct. 5 on the House floor.
The day will begin with a fun run/walk around the 2-mile “loop” for a $15 donation to the Linda Lunsford Kidney Transplant Fund. There will be vendors, a bake sale, raffles and entertainment. Raffle items include a potted arrangement from Fiddleheads Garden Center and gift certificates to Thrifty Chic Resale Boutique and to Little Rome, as well as several other local businesses.
R.C.W. will perform around noon. The Sweetwater Creek bluegrass band is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. And Terry Manis will do a show on reptiles. Admission to the event and to see the entertainers is free.
All proceeds benefit Lunsford’s kidney transplant fund. Donations can also be sent to Bagley Middle School, c/o Tim Howard or Toby Westmoreland, 4600 Highway 225, Chatsworth, GA 30705.
