The snow may taper off as this afternoon winds on, but the snow is far from ending.
By Tuesday at about noon, there were reports of 2 to 3 inches of snow throughout Whitfield and Murray counties, said Jason Deese, a forecaster with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City.
“We’re starting to see the back edge of this snow move through Whitfield and Murray counties,” Deese said. “There is still some moderate snow over the southern portions of those counties, but it will taper off. Don’t let your guard down though because we will be transitioning gradually into overnight with another period of a mixed bag of precipitation: snow, sleet and probably not as much freezing rain, which is a good thing.”
Snow will pick back up this evening and overnight and is expected to bring a total of 6 to 8 inches to the area before it leaves north Georgia Thursday morning.
