n Southeast Whitfield’s Lester Paucay (152 pounds), Austin Allen (170) and Carlos Fraire (285) each went 5-0 against some of the top competition in the state at the Forsyth Central Duals in Cumming.
Paucay had five pins in five matches, while Allen and Fraire each had two pins. Jesus Dominguez was 4-1 at 126 as Southeast went 1-4 on the day with a 58-18 victory over the host Bulldogs as the only team victory. The Raiders lost to Jefferson (57-24), Cass (49-30), North Gwinnett (57-24) and North Forsyth (52-25) while giving up 24 points in each match as coach Michael Herndon’s team forfeited four weight classes due to injury.
“It was a lot of tough teams and a good day to see how we stack up,” Herndon said as his team moved to 10-9 in dual matches. “Even though we came out 1-4, I think we got a lot better as a team.”
n Murray County’s wrestling squad won three of four duals at the Ridgeland Duals event. The Indians lost 51-22 to Rockmart and beat Trion’s second team 60-18, Gordon Central 52-29 and Trion’s first team 48-35.
Domingo Bautista won all four of his 113-pound matches for Murray County. Clay Thornbury (182) also won all four of his matches. Anibal Raymundo (106), Jacob Ramos (126), Willy Amador (195) and Allen Roberts (285) each won three of four matches.

n Northwest Whitfield’s girls swimming team won a tri-meet with Woodland-Bartow and Cartersville while the boys squad narrowly lost to Woodland.
The Lady Bruins scored 123 points with Woodland (96) and Cartersville (71) following. The 200-yard medley relay team of Dala Huffstetler, Daniela Hannah, Ana Hannah and Marlee Bingham won with a time of 2 minutes, 14.62 seconds. Other winners for Northwest were: Ana Hannah (200 freestyle, 2:24.97; 500 freestyle, 6:31.10); Daniela Hannah (200 individual medley, 2:43.63; 100 breaststroke, 1:25.47); Bingham (50 freestyle, 27.99; 100 freestyle, 1:03.97); and Natalie Williams (100 backstroke, 1:16.42).
The Northwest boys team scored 100 points, finishing second behind Woodland (108) and ahead of Cartersville (76). Matthew Pipkin won the 100 freestyle in 54.03 seconds. Other winners for the Bruins were: Chandler Rickett, Triston Smith, Ellison Beard and Pipkin (200 freestyle relay, 1:40.81); Lane Bramblett (500 freestyle, 6:26.59); and Rickett (100 breaststroke, 1:15.17).
