Dove tells women to love their armpits

After bearing the brunt of jokes about “Bridgegate,” the scandal surrounding the closure of traffic lanes on the George Washington Bridge that aides of  Gov. Chris Christie apparently ordered as political payback, New Jersey residents may not laugh along with Dove billboards that will appear in their state. “Dear New Jersey,” says the billboard, which features a woman wearing a white tank top and raising an arm to display her underarm. “When people call you ‘the Armpit of America,’ take it as a compliment. Sincerely, Dove.” — The New York Times

Best speeding excuse ever? Man has $50K lotto ticket to cash

HINGHAM, Mass. —This may be among the more unusual excuses to try to get out of a speeding ticket.

When Scott Lowe, 22, was pulled over by police one morning for allegedly speeding through town, he told the officer he had just won $50,000 on a Massachusetts State Lottery scratch ticket and was going to lottery headquarters to claim his winnings. — WCVB

New York mute swans to be eradicated with birth control instead of slaughter

Public outcry has convinced New York officials to forgo their plan to slaughter 2,500 “nuisance” swans; birth control will be used to regulate the population of the birds instead. — Headlines & Global News

World’s oldest cheese found on 3,600-year-yld Chinese mummies

Archaeologists have unearthed what they believe to be the world’s oldest cheese. The astonishingly well-preserved cheese was buried beneath China’s Taklamakan Desert some 3,600 years ago and was affixed to the chests and necks of ancient Chinese mummies — a yummy snack for the dead to nibble on during their journey into the afterlife. — International Business Times
